My Sick Bed

The Black Death returned to our house on Sunday afternoon and I didn't even see it coming. It wasn't so much my actual illness, but the violent chills, raging fever (104.3) and nausea inducing medication (Levaquin) that were so alarming. Jason took the day off of work to accompany me to my doctor in Birmingham on Monday morning where I was poked, prodded, questioned and examined. The hallucinations began later that night. I was startled awake at midnight only to "see" a tall shadowy figure wearing an Olympic tracksuit at my bedside. I grabbed Jason's arm while peering over the edge of the mattress as I tried to locate that scary man on the floor after he squatted and hid from me. It was really quite frighting. This Levaquin and fever-induced "vision" reminded me of the time many, many years ago when my mother was awoken in the middle of the night when my father, sick with fever and chills, jumped from the edge of their bed into the next room only to return to my mother's side of the bed while mumbling something about snakes. This story always makes me smile. I'm beginning to feel better thanks to all the pampering that I received from Jillian, Jason, Nana and Maw Maw Mozell (my grandmother). Thanks guys!
