Our Lazy Saturday...

Finally. We finally recovered from our 16-day whirlwind trip to China. It only took us a little over two weeks to get back to our normal. Then it hit. Me? Stomach bug. Jillian? Strep throat. Sarah Martin? Fluid in her ears...more on this topic below. But today we were all in a sunshine-induced state of euphoria. Jillian requested deviled eggs for breakfast and Jason eagerly obliged. She hasn't had much of an appetite this week due to that pesky strep throat, so we let her choose our breakfast menu. I, however, stuck to my usual granola bar, yogurt and coffee. Sarah Martin also loves her daddy's deviled eggs and devoured three eggs while only rubbing a minimal amount in her hair. We were able to sneak in a few minutes of playtime outdoors before celebrating my grandmother's birthday at Wintzell's.

Sarah Martin's initial appointment with the UAB International Adoption Clinic went off without a hitch. She is developing nicely and we'll get the results from her titer test during our follow-up appointment in March. She did have fluid in her ears and we have been pumping her full of Amoxicillian for the past week to help clear it up. Cleft-affected children have an increased incidence of ear infections, so she will require tubes asap. We'll met with Dr. John Grant and the UAB Cleft Team this coming Thursday and we're hoping to schedule both her palate repair and the procedure to insert those tubes. Please a say quick prayer for Sarah Martin on Thursday morning as she is poked and prodded by a multi-disciplined medical team. She continues to be such a happy baby and is finally beginning to trust that we are here and would never, ever, ever leave her. Her precious life has so much value and I feel so very blessed to be her mom.

I am thrilled to hear you are all feeling better. I have been concerned about you and hate that your return home was fraught with so much illness.

You are going to love Dr. Grant and his team is spectacular. Mention Lola to him. He will likely remember her and her crooked little head.

You, SM and the rest of the bunch will be in my thoughts as you make the trip to Children's this week. I can say that it's best if you arrive at least 45 minutes before your appointment time because finding parking and then getting to Clinic I can be a hassle.

If I can offer any help, please don't hesitate to ask. I've traveled this road many times. My love to you all!
